Date: August 10, 2006
From: Daily Post
ONE of Britain's biggest shearing competitions went hi-tech
this year with an interactive website.
Enthusiasts could follow the action at the 17th Cneifio Corwen Shears through
daily postings of results, photographs and videos.
Kiwi competitors took a share of the spoils, with Paul Avery clinching the open
championship.
But Welsh shearers, led by Gower's Nicky Beynon, showed their mettle with Gareth
Daniels, Machynlleth, capturing the seniors title.
Chairman Arwyn Jones thanked main sponsors Heiniger, Highway Shearing UK and
Cheval Liberte.
He added: "I'd also like to thank the farmers who supplied the lambs, the
competitors and spectators and the judges for their hard work."

Ruthin, took on the world's top shearers in Corwen Pavilion. Delwyn went on
to win the senior shearing title and then collected the Senior British Isles

Event secretary Iola Jones said: "This year's competition was the best
yet. The whole place was rocking and of course it was nice to get a local winner."
